The transition from college to career can present unique challenges for women, particularly as they seek to grow into leadership roles. The CLAS Women’s Leadership Collective helps students build confidence and skills, strengthen their networks, and prepare for successful careers.
About the Program
Designed for undergraduate students, the Women’s Leadership Collective combines professional development with the power of mentorship, connecting participants with accomplished UConn alumnae. Through these relationships, students gain valuable insights, expand their networks, and develop skills that support long-term career success.
Each mentorship circle discusses important professional skills such as how to handle conflict, salary negotiation, leadership styles, and more.
The application for the 2026-2027 academic year is now open. Apply by Friday, Sept. 18.
Program Eligibility
The ideal student participant is an undergraduate who is interested in pursuing personal and professional growth through peer and alumni interactions.
The College encourages students of varying leadership experiences to apply. Please note that this program can be an applicant’s entry into leadership, so a resume full of positions in student organizations is not a prerequisite.
Eligible candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Currently a junior or senior.
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
- Enrolled as a full-time student in good standing.
- Demonstrate a commitment to personal growth, supporting peers, and empowering women to succeed.
Program Requirements and Commitments
Participants are expected to connect virtually with your mentorship circle for one hour each month. Students must also attend several program events throughout the year, including orientation, a kickoff event, two student dinners, and an end-of-year event.
Students in the program must also meet the following requirements.
- Maintain full-time enrollment and good academic standing at UConn.
- Attend and thoughtfully participate in required mentorship gatherings, which are scheduled throughout the year.
- Actively engage with your mentor.
- Attend all mandatory events.
- Maintain timely communication with CLAS staff, peers, and mentors.
